And as promised, here are my reading challenge updates:
1. Beat the Backlist: This month, I read 4 books from my backlist, one of them just in time to read the sequel which releases next week! I’m also going to try the backlist bingo for this challenge, so look out for that in my next wrap up.
2. Year of Epic Reads: I’ve decided to go with both the monthly and quarterly challenges for this one. (The weekly would play havoc with my personal reading schedule although it does have some really interesting prompts.)

  • Challenge of the Month: FIRST IMPRESSIONS!
If you read one book this month, make it a judgment call. For January, we want you to break the cardinal rule of reading—judging a book by its cover. It doesn’t have to be the art, necessarily. But we want you to read something that caught your eye, whether for its colors, tagline, or style.

Chosen Book: The Gilded Wolves – Roshani Chokshi
To be very honest, I was not all that fond of Chokshi’s earlier novel, The Star-Touched Queen, which made me more than hesitant to try this. But after seeing this beautiful cover, not to mention the synopsis, it was just too tempting to pass up. It was definitely a good decision as I really enjoyed this book! Check out my full review here!

Stats for the Month

Did you read any of these books or do you plan to? I’d love to hear your thoughts on them!
