Book Tag: The Perfect Book

Happy Friday, book lovers! It’s time for another book tag today. I came across this tag on A Book. A Thought a couple of months ago, and I’ve been looking for an opportunity to do this unique tag ever since, so here it is!

The Perfect Genre
What genre would your perfect book be?

Pick A Book That Represents Perfectly Its Genre

My perfect book would be a fantasy novel without a doubt, and one that has been at the top of my favourite books list for over twelve years now is the Lord of the Rings trilogy by JRR Tolkien – I have yet to come across a fantasy novel I’ve enjoyed more than this one.

The Perfect Setting
Because every story needs the perfect setting

Pick A Book That Takes Place In A Perfect Place

I particularly like books that are set around the plot of an epic quest. Alternatively, I’m also fond of books that take place in and around royal courts as it adds an element of political intrigue to the story. A recent read, atleast as far the latter goes, would be American Royals by Katharine McGee.

The Perfect Main Character
Because every book needs that brave and amazing MC

Pick the Perfect Main Character

This is a really hard one, because I’ve come across so many MCs I absolutely adore. But for this one, I’m going to pick Celaena Sardothien, aka Aelin Galathynius from the Throne of Glass series. Her arc from princess to assassin to queen is beautifully portrayed and I really enjoyed her character growth throughout the series.

The Perfect Best Friend
Because we always love that character who supports our MC, no matter what

Loyal and Supportive, Pick A Character That You Think Is The Best Friend Ever

Another hard one, but considering my current and upcoming reads, I’m going to go with Jules Milone from the Three Dark Crowns series. Despite Arsinoe ostensibly being the weakest of the queens, Jules is fiercely protective and supportive of her throughout, no matter what.
(No spoilers! I haven’t read Five Dark Fates yet!)

The Perfect Love Interest
Although not all stories need it, we all love a bit of romance

Pick A Character You Think Would Be An Amazing Romantic Partner

Will Herondale from The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare, has been a long time favourite, more so because I recently finished a reread of this series.

The Perfect Villain
Because even when sometime we hate them, we always need them

Pick A Character With The Most Sinister Mind

So many to choose from, but I’d pick The Darkling from the Grisha trilogy by Leigh Bardugo.

The Perfect Family
Our book wouldn’t be the same without that unconditional support from the MC’s family

Pick a Perfect Bookish Family

The Blackthorn family from The Dark Artifices by Cassandra Clare is a perfect example for this one! I know I’ve probably mentioned this same answer for a similar question in another tag, but I love the sibling dynamic in this family.

Perfect Animal or Pet
Because we all need a good loyal companion

Pick A Pet Or Fantastic Animal That You Need To See On A Book

I’m a dog person, mostly, but if we’re talking fantastic animals, then I’m going to pick a pegasus, specifically, Blackjack from the Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan.

The Perfect Plot Twist
“OMG, how I didn’t see that coming!”

Pick A Book With The Best Plot Twist

The Dark Gifts trilogy by Vic James. This series is literally full of some of the best plot twists I have ever come across. I found it practically impossible to predict the story at any point.

Perfect Trope
Pick That Trope You Would Add To Your Own Book Without Thinking

I have to admit, I’m rather fond of the soul mates trope – when done well, like Rhysand and Feyre from A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas or Aelin and Rowan from Throne of Glass.

Perfect Cover
Because we all love a good, beautiful and artistic cover

Pick That Cover That You Would Easily Put In Your Own Book

A Treason of Thorns by Laura E Weymouth. While I didn’t really enjoy this book all that much, it does have one of the prettiest covers I’ve seen this year!

Perfect Ending
Because every great adventure has an ending

Pick A Book That Has The Perfect Ending

I love happy endings just as much as the next person, but I also like them to be realistic. An ending that is a little open ended is great too, and I enjoy imagining the various ways the story might continue. War Storm by Victoria Aveyard is great in this sense (I’m completely ignoring the existence of Broken Throne for the purpose of this prompt).

I have to give The Dark Gifts a chance, I removed it from my TBR because I thought I wouldn’t like it, but I’ve been listening very good things about, so maybe I’ll give it a chance after all.
