September has been an interesting month and I got quite a lot done. I participated in my first blog tour and also caught up on most of my pending ARCs, leaving only 22 books on my 2019 TBR.Β I think I might actually be able to end this year without adding to my backlist!

And as promised, here are my reading challenge updates:
1. Beat the Backlist: This month, I read 4 books from my backlist, all of which have been on there for a really long time. I also finally got around to reading the novella for the Three Dark Crowns series and started my re-read of The Heroes of Olympus on audiobook.
2. Year of Epic Reads:

  • Challenge of the Month:Β READ A BOOK ABOUT FALLING IN LOVE
This month, we want you to read a book about falling in love! That can be as straightforward or symbolic as you desireβ€”we just want you to feel the love!

Chosen Book: Love & Gelato – Jenna Evans Welch
Lina is spending the summer in Tuscany, but she isn’t in the mood for Italy’s famous sunshine and fairy-tale landscape. She’s only there because it was her mother’s dying wish that she get to know her father. But what kind of father isn’t around for sixteen years? All Lina wants to do is get back home.
But then she is given a journal that her mom had kept when she lived in Italy. Suddenly Lina’s uncovering a magical world of secret romances, art, and hidden bakeries. A world that inspires Lina, along with the ever-so-charming Ren, to follow in her mother’s footsteps and unearth a secret that has been kept for far too long. It’s a secret that will change everything she knew about her mother, her fatherβ€”and even herself.
People come to Italy for love and gelato, someone tells her, but sometimes they discover much more.

Every so often, I like to add one of these types of books onto my reading list – light hearted and entertaining. Add to that, that this story is set in Italy, Florence to be precise – what more is needed for a cute summer romance novel! I would highly recommend both this book and the follow up, Love & Luck.

2019 Final Goal Check

With three months to go until the end of the year, it’s time for one final look at my 2019 reading goal. I’m currently at 130 books with a mid-year revised target of 150, which I can easily complete. So instead of increasing the number any further, I’m going to be concentrating on completing my TBR for the year and then starting on some of the main titles on my backlist that I haven’t had a chance to get to this year. Apart from that, I’m in the middle of re-reads for two different series, namely Throne of Glass and The Heroes of Olympus. I also really want to re-read The Alchemyst series before the end of the year along with Pride and Prejudice. All put together, that looks like it’ll be a pretty busy end to the year!

Stats for the Month

Number of Books: 14
Number of Pages: 5,701
Goodreads Challenge Progress: 130/150

Did you read any of these books or do you plan to? I’d love to hear your thoughts on them!
