This month marked my first blogversary – I can’t believe it’s been a year already, and what an amazing year it has been! Thank you to my wonderful readers for all your support and feedback! October was definitely a busy month – I completed The Heroes of Olympus series re-read I had planned for this year, and am halfway through The Alchemyst series as well. But more importantly, with the end of this month, I’ve completed my reading goal for the year, 150 books!

And as promised, here are my reading challenge updates:
1. Beat the Backlist: My backlist has somewhat been suffering lately, as I’ve been in the mood to re-read quite a few of my old favourites. However, with my 2019 pile down to the final 15 books, I’m hoping to turn my attention back to this pile in these last two months of the year.
2. Year of Epic Reads:

  • Challenge of the Month:Β READ A BOOK THAT’S DARK AND DAZZLING!
Dark magic, dark humor, glittering, gorgeous designsβ€”the interpretation is up to you. But we want to welcome the spookiest month of the year with a challenge suitable for every book coven around.
Chosen Book: Ninth House – Leigh Bardugo
I saw this prompt and immediately wished I’d saved Serpent & Dove for this, but seeing as I read that ages ago, I had to find another book. Ninth House is just as appropriate though. Leigh Bardugo’s latest work is dark and mysterious, with some excellent world-building that creates an eerie atmosphere and really sets the stage for the murder mystery that is the main plot of the story. Highly recommended!
