Hello readers! It has been a kind of difficult reading week for me, with three massive reads I really need to get through by the weekend, so for the second posting day in a row, I’m taking a break from reviews and doing a book tag. I came across this tag on All You Read Is Love. This tag was created by Bookidote.
Flagrate – Writing Charm
A Book you found the theme interesting,
but you would like to rewrite it.
The Circle of Shadows duology by Evelyn Skye is one I have mentioned quite a few times over the last year on my blog as one where I found the concept extremely interesting and unique, but simply did not live up to expectations. I’m no writer, but this is one story I would definitely like to reimagine.
Check out my reviews of Circle of Shadows and Cloak of Night.
Alohomora – Unlocking Charm
The first book in a series, that got you hooked?
There are so many books I could think of for this category, but to go with a somewhat more recent one, And I Darken by Kiersten White, the first book in The Conqueror’s Saga was not one I expected to enjoy, and yet by the time the final book came around, it was on my most anticipated list that year – and this series only gets better with each reread!
Check out my review here.
Accio – Summoning Charm
A book you wish you could have right now.
A Sky Beyond the Storm by Sabaa Tahir is the last book in the An Ember in the Ashes series, and it was announced last week that it would be releasing this December – which is way too far away! I need to know what happens to Elias, Helene and Laia, especially after that ending of A Reaper at the Gates! Also, why is Helene not on this cover?
Check out my review of A Reaper at the Gates here.
Avada Kedavra – Killing Curse
A killer book, both senses. Take it as you like.
If we’re talking killer as in a total let down, I’m going to go with The Last Namsara by Kristen Ciccarelli. This is a book I’ve heard praised so many times, but I found it almost impossible to get through, and for the first time in forever, I don’t plan to finish reading this series.
Confundo – Confusing Charm
A book you found really confusing.
The Starless Sea – do I even need to explain this one? I have never come across a book that annoyed and confused me so much as this one. If you’re one of my regular readers, you know exactly how much this book frustrated me and why, but if you’re new here, feel free to check out my rant from earlier this year.
Your spirit animal book.
No idea about spirit animals, but the Harry Potter series by J. K. Rowling is certainly one that is very special to me and I have a lot of fond childhood memories relating to it.
Sectumsempra – Dark Charm
A dark twisted book.
Wicked Saints by Emily A. Duncan comes to mind – a far darker read than I expected with absolutely delightful twists and cliffhangers and a marvellous start to a new series! I can’t wait to read the sequel! Check out my review here.
Aparecium – Revealing Charm.
A book that surprised you in a great way,
reveals to be more than it is.
The Vanishing Deep by Astrid Scholte was certainly quite surprising! I wasn’t really sure what to expect from this book since I wasn’t too fond of Four Dead Queens, but a dystopian setting wasn’t it – and it turned out to be quite a fun read! I particularly enjoyed the depth of the world building that was achieved in this standalone novel. Check out my review here.
I had a lot of fun doing this tag! What would be your picks for these prompts? Consider yourself tagged! Make sure to link back so I can read your answers and also remember to credit the creator of the tag!
