The Bookaholics Anonymous Tag

Hello readers! I’m doing another book tag today! I came across this tag on one of my favourite blogs A Rambling Reviewer recently, and it was just so hilarious, yet true, that I knew I had to do it. Thanks to Lindsey for sharing this tag that I’m sure most of the bookish community can highly relate to!

What do you like about buying books?

Generally, when I buy a book, it’s one I’ve been planning to pick up for a few months at least, waiting for a good deal, so I always get really excited when I finally get my hands on it. And then promptly place it on my shelf to admire for the next couple of days before completely forgetting to read/re-read it for the next 6 months.

How often do you buy books?

Not very often, I would say maybe 2-3 times a year.

Bookstore or online book shopping – which do you prefer?

I like to browse in store and then order it online, because the edition or binding I want is usually not available. I’m rarely an impulse book buyer, so I don’t tend to shop in store much.

Do you have a favourite bookshop?

Chapters Indigo! I’ve spent literally hours roaming the aisles there.

Do you pre-order books?

Very rarely, for two reasons. First, I only buy books I’ve read – when it comes to owning books, I like them to be ones that I absolutely loved, because I hate unhauling books and try to do it as little as possible. And second, even though I like hardcovers as much as the next person, I prefer to own paperbacks instead. If I do pre-order, it would have to be from an author/series that I’m completely sure will be a fantastic read.

Do you have a monthly book buying limit?

Not really. As I mentioned, I only really buy books a few times a year, and I can generally restrain myself to a reasonable number because I know I don’t have space for them, but I do go overboard once in a while – Exhibit A, my new most prized possession, a (very heavy) collector’s edition of Lord of the Rings that I’ve been toying with the idea of buying for years.

Book buying bans – are they something for you?

Again, no. I generally put a lot of thought into which books I do buy, but with the way my shelves are piling up, I might have to to stay away from buying anymore until I can convince myself to unhaul some old ones I’m done with.

How big is your wishlist?

If I had the space for it, the list is never ending!

I had a lot of fun doing this tag! What would be your answers for these questions? Consider yourself tagged! Make sure to link back so I can read your answers!

Wow, I loved your answers so much, this is such a fun post. Everywhere I see bookworms constantly saying how much they buy books and it was fun to see someone who actually did not buy books too often which is so much like me😍

As someone else who buys books rarely and selectively, it’s nice to find others who are the same way!

Good to see there are others with the same opinion! It’s so tempting to have a wall just covered with books like I see on booktube channels, but there’s no way I’d be able to take good care of all of them. Thanks for reading!
