Hello readers, and Happy Halloween! It’s probably going to be pretty low key everywhere this year, but Halloween is one of my favourite times of the year. Thank you to I’m All Booked Up for tagging me. The Hallotober Tag was created by Jordanne from The Life Of A Glasgow Girl.
My scheduled book review for today will instead go up tomorrow as I really wanted to get this post out before Halloween.
What are you dressing up as this year?
I don’t generally dress up for Halloween, and the last time I did so was when I was still trick-or-treating years ago.
How are you celebrating Halloween?
The plan is to spend the evening finally watching The Haunting of Bly Manor which I’ve been meaning to do all month.
Are you reading any Halloween/spooky books this year?
I actually read two semi-spooky books this month, which I’m very proud of because I generally avoid the genre entirely. You Were Never Here was a paranormal mystery, and Among the Beasts and Briars was a kind of dark fairytale, and both felt very in line with the spirit of the month.
Favourite Halloween movie?
As aforementioned, I don’t do scary, so my experience is limited to kids movies. Halloweentown, of course, Hotel Transylvania, oh and The Witches was another good one. I’m really looking forward to watching the new one this year too!
Favourite Halloween memory?
Halloween wasn’t really a thing where I grew up, but favourite memory is undoubtedly the first time I got to go trick or treating when I was 10. I believe I dressed up as a princess that year.
What is your dream costume?
I’ve always thought it would be fun to dress up as Eowyn from Lord of the Rings – with a sword of course!
Do you like to carve pumpkins?
I’ve never really tried it. Looks fun though!
Favourite Halloween dessert?
I’m actually rather fond of pumpkin cupcakes (no pumpkin pie though).
What are your fall traditions?
I don’t really have any, but trick or treating was always fun, and I used to collect different leaves when the colours started to change.
Vampires or witches?
Witches! Vampires are forever ruined for me (thank you Twilight), but I’ve always felt that witches have a lot more scope, and there are so many different ways they can be portrayed that the magic never really gets old.
Have you ever been on a ghost tour?
No, I’ve done a couple of haunted houses and that was scary enough. I’m quite curious as to how a ghost tour might be though.
If you could travel anywhere in October, where would it be?
New England. I’ve always wanted to see the fall colours in the north eastern states at this time of year, maybe take a tour or go hiking. I’ve only been to Boston so far, and that was in the summer, but there’s so much more to explore!
Favourite fall activity?
I love baking in the fall – not necessarily anything like pumpkin or apple pies, but I usually don’t get the urge to start baking and experimenting until fall comes around.
Thank you once again to I’m All Booked Up for the tag! I’m not going to be tagging anyone specifically, but do feel free to do this tag if you like it. Make sure to link back so I can read your answers!
