Books to read during Christmas
Blogmas Day 10
Welcome to Day 10 of Blogmas! I can’t believe I’ve actually managed to post for 10 days in a row, but we’re nearly halfway through blogmas! Today’s post was initially supposed to be my favourite Christmas books, but as it turns out, while my movie list is quite extensive, I’m not much of a seasonal reader at all. So this post is now a selection of books I love to read around Christmas time: some are festive others are just old favourites I come back to at this time of year. Many of these are children’s books, but somehow I find that these are the most fun to read for this season!

A Christmas Carol – Charles Dickens
How could any list of Christmas books be complete without this classic?
The Afterlife of Holly Chase – Cynthia Hand
I only got around to reading this book last year, but it was an instant favourite. A modern day retelling of A Christmas Carol, this is a thoroughly entertaining read!
Hercule Poirot’s Christmas – Agatha Christie
I haven’t read this one in ages, and it’s about time I reread this, but you can never really go wrong with a Hercule Poirot mystery!
The Chronicles of Narnia
This series made my movie list as well, and I’ve never been able to explain why, but I’ve always found it to be very Christmassy. Besides, a good old-fashioned fantasy novel with the classic good vs evil theme is just the thing for the holidays.
Ella Enchanted
This is no way a seasonal read, but it’s probably the most read book on my shelf, particularly around the holidays. It is quite possibly my favourite retelling of all time (regular readers on my blog know of my dislike for most of the original fairytales) and is just such a cute and fun read!
What are your favourite books to read at Christmas? Are there any new ones you’re reading this year?

I totally agree that Narnia is Christmassy! I love it and always reminds me of Winter!

Thanks for reading! Yes, both the book and movie have a Christmas feel to them!
