Bookish Gift Guide
Blogmas Day 17
Welcome to Day 17 of Blogmas! Christmas is barely a week away, and in case you’re doing some last minute shopping for friends or family who are book lovers, maybe you’ll find some ideas in my bookish gift guide below!
Bookmarks
Can a reader truly have enough bookmarks? I think if I counted, I might actually have more bookmarks than I do books, but I still love to collect them! You can get such beautiful bookmarks from simple ones to more fancy ones in wood, metal, silk etc.
Reading Journal/Bullet Journal
Journals are such a great way to keep track of your reading habits, and best of all, it doesn’t restrict what information you can track (unlike apps) and you can be as creative as you like! I am currently using an ordinary journal I had lying around, but once it’s done, I’m thinking of getting a proper reading journal. Some stationery like coloured pens, sticky notes etc. would go perfectly with this gift.
Book Sleeves
This is a perfect gift for anyone who likes to take their books along when they travel! There’s nothing like placing a book in your bag and discovering later that it’s all folded and dogeared, or worse, torn. I had completely switched over to ebooks for a few years when I had a long daily commute until I discovered these.
Book Subscription Box
Subscription boxes like Owlcrate or Fairyloot would be a perfect bookish gift. This has been something I’ve always wanted to get, but since I’m in Canada, the conversion rate from USD plus shipping makes it very impractical, so on my wishlist it remains. However, there are also specialty boxes like the Indigo book box which aren’t subscription based and would be an equally great gift!
Kindle/E-reader
If they don’t already have one, this is in my opinion, the best gift for any book lover. Yes, there are many apps you can install on phones and tablets, but it’s nothing quite like an e-reader where there are no distracting notifications, emails, games etc. to pull you away from some quality focused reading time. My personal favourite is the Kindle – I own a Paperwhite – and it was such a lifesaver!

It’s so true. We have a lot of bookmarks, but sometimes end up using whatever we can find to serve as one. Great suggestions.

Thanks! That’s so true, I’ve started picking a bookmark at the same time as my next read just so I use them!

All great suggestions!!! (I have a box full of bookmarks and probably use only one of them).
I always ask amazon/waterstones gift card for Christmas gift. I really don’t like when people buy me books…

Same here, I’m very specific about which books I buy physical copies of so gift cards are the best idea. Thanks for reading!
