Let’s Talk Bookish: Bookish Memes and Games – Fun Filler or Worthless Waste of Time?

Let’s Talk Bookish is a weekly meme hosted by Rukky @ Eternity Books and Dani @ Literary Lion. Today’s topic is Bookish Memes and Games – Fun Filler or Worthless Waste of Time?

How many bookish memes do you participate in? Do you enjoy working on them?

I currently participate in 2 bookish memes: WWW Wednesday and Let’s Talk Bookish and find both posts a lot of fun to write each week.

Do you interact with other people’s weekly meme posts?

Yes, to an extent. I read other people’s weekly meme posts, but don’t interact as much as with other content like book reviews.

Do you feel like the amount of interaction you get makes the time spent on the posts worth it?

The interaction on weekly memes is definitely lesser than what I get on reviews, but these posts also take much lesser effort and thought to put together. I think there is a lot of value in memes. WWW Wednesday, for example, is an easy way to share what I’ve been reading lately, and Let’s Talk Bookish allows me to talk about topics related to reading/blogging that I would never write a full length post on. These are filler posts, no doubt, but they’re fun fillers and essential to my blog. I can usually have them ready days or even weeks in advance and they’re a great way to maintain a more steady posting schedule.

I do feel however, that there is such a thing as too many memes. While it may boost overall interaction, doing a meme post every day or every other day could draw focus away from the main content on the blog. So yes, bookish memes and games are fun, but within a limit.

    Interesting post, Raji.
I have been thinking about doing weekly meme as they have value as fillers and when you don’t know what to post. I am still not 100% I want to take this weekly commitment ahaha

I waited for ages to start doing memes for the same reason, but it’s actually really easy to keep up once you do start, especially with something like WWW where it’s possible to have a template that just needs a few things filled in each week.

I do bookish memes and love them as I think it gives an opportunity to share more books and create a community!
