Hello readers! Today, I’m doing the Get to Know the Fantasy Reader Tag and I’m really excited as fantasy is my favourite genre to read and makes up close to half my TBR each year. Thank you to Anna @ Anna’s Book Nook for tagging me!

What is your fantasy origin story? (The first fantasy you read)
Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone is the first fantasy novel I remember reading, though the Narnia series was among the earlier ones too.
If you could be the hero/heroine in a fantasy novel, who would be the author and what’s one trope you’d insist be in the story?
The author would definitely be Cassandra Clare and I would love to see the Chosen One trope included.
What is a fantasy series you’ve read this year, that you want more people to read?
Realm Breaker by Victoria Aveyard is a new fantasy series that I read earlier this year. It looks really promising so far, and I would definitely recommend it!
What is your favourite fantasy subgenre?
I wouldn’t say I have a particular favourite, but a few I enjoy are: historical, mythological, fairytale and quest fantasy. Though I try to read as diversely as possible within the genre, nothing is quite as good as a solid epic fantasy.
What subgenre have you not read much from?
One subgenre I haven’t read too many books from is superhero fantasy.
Who is one of your auto-buy fantasy authors?
Some of my favourite fantasy authors are: Cassandra Clare, Sarah J. Maas and Leigh Bardugo.
How do you typically find fantasy recommendations? (Goodreads, Youtube, Podcasts, Instagram..)
Mostly through Goodreads, but also from fellow book bloggers!
What is an upcoming fantasy release you’re excited for?
A couple of upcoming releases from the second half of this year I’m really excited for are: The Bronzed Beasts, The Hawthorne Legacy and Into the Dying Light.
What is one misconception about fantasy you would like to lay to rest?
Fantasy is not a genre that is limited to any one age group. It’s an incredibly versatile genre since the only limitations it has is what the author decides and it can easily blend genres and themes for a very rich reading experience.
If someone had never read a fantasy before and asked you to recommend the first 3 books that come to mind as places to start, what would those recommendations be?
My Lady Jane has been a longtime favourite of mine and I love the witty banter that never fails to make me laugh.
Who is the most recent fantasy reading content creator you came across that you’d like to shoutout?
It’s hard to just pick one, since most of the blogs I read regularly tend to feature a lot of fantasy content. The bloggers I’ve tagged below are a few whose blogs I can always turn to for great recommendations!
Feel free to participate even if I haven’t tagged you! I had a lot of fun doing this tag. What was the first fantasy novel you ever read? Let me know in the comments below!
