Let’s Talk Bookish: Reflecting on your 2021 reading/blogging year

Let’s Talk Bookish is a weekly meme hosted by Rukky @ Eternity Books and Dani @ Literary Lion. Today’s topic is Reflecting on your 2021 reading/blogging year.

What did you accomplish reading and blogging wise in 2021? What are you most proud of? What are you most disappointed by?

I completed my base reading goal of 100 books approximately halfway through the year and increased it to 150 books which I completed earlier this month. Though this year’s count will be much lesser than last year’s 200+, I’m still very proud of how much I’ve managed to read given how many other commitments I had to juggle outside blogging, especially in the final months of 2021. My blog engagement and readership has also grown quite a lot (see my upcoming 2021 Wrap Up Post next Monday for all the details) so I’m quite happy about that too.

What I’m most disappointed about this year has to be how few books I’ve been able to pick up from my backlist, and I’ll be adding atleast a dozen 2021 titles to it that I couldn’t get through before the end of the year.

If there’s something new you tried in 2021 with your reading or blogging, what was it and how did that turn out?

I increased the number of posts I write each week, and while there were a few times this year when it became hard to keep up, I’ve managed to stick to it for the most part. I also started doing the Let’s Talk Bookish weekly posts and it has been a lot of fun sharing my thoughts on such a varied range of bookish topics, so I’ll definitely be continuing that in 2022.

How do you think you’ve grown as a reader/blogger? What would you advise yourself as we look to 2022?

I think blogging has encouraged me to expand my reading choices and I’m a lot more open to picking up books from genres I would have never considered before, like science fiction and even the occasional contemporary novel. As far as 2022 goes, I’m hoping to continue reading more amazing books, but also to follow the schedules I set up and stay ahead of my blogging work so it doesn’t pile up last minute like it did quite a few times this year.
