Another year gone – and 2021 certainly felt like it would never end at times! But it’s finally over and here’s hoping 2022 will be a better year filled with even more wonderful books. 2021 has been a marvellous blogging year however, and I’ve read so many amazing books and hit some major blogging milestones as well! I wrote my 600th post in September, hit 700 followers here on WordPress in November and Worlds Unlike Our Own officially turned 3 years old in October. Let’s take a look at 2021 on my blog and what’s new this year!

Best of 2021
As always, I started out with an initial reading goal of 100 books, which I raised by 50 each time I came close to completing it. My final total stands at 155 books for 2021, most of which were new releases.
Out of the 150+ books I read this year, 11 made it onto my best of shelf, a much larger number than usual, but each and every one of these books were amazing reads.

New in 2022
My posting schedule is not going to be changing, atleast for the first couple of months this year, and depending on other time commitments, I am considering picking up a new monthly post later on. The Let’s Talk Bookish meme I started doing in 2021 was a lot of fun, so I will be continuing with that, along with the occasional Bookish Lists posts.
2022 Goals:
- I’ve set my starting goal for the Goodreads challenge a little higher this year at 150 books, and hopefully, I will complete it with time to raise it higher.
- My other major goal this year is to not focus on new titles as much, sticking to my initial curated TBR and only adding books I’m really interested in. I’ve really missed re-reading my old favourites and I want to take the time to sit back and read those as well as work on the ever lasting backlist.
- I’m also doing my best to stay on schedule this year and keep up with ARCs. Over the past couple of months, I’ve discovered that waiting to read them until a month or so before release date often makes them pile up due to certain months having more titles than others, so I plan to start reading them as soon as I can fit them in. This also includes taking care how many titles I request on NetGalley because I inevitably find myself with too many to handle atleast 2-3 times a year.
- Finally, I’m trying to step out of my reading comfort zone a little more and expand my reading beyond YA in the fantasy genre to begin with and also continue exploring sci-fi novels which I found I really enjoyed this past year.
I want to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to all of you for your views, likes, comments and support over this year. Wishing everyone a safe and Happy New Year 2022!
What were your favourite books of 2021? Do you have any reading goals for this year? I’d love to hear from you in the comments!
Good luck with your goals and well done in 2021, sounds like you had a wonderful year (reading and blogging).

Wow… 155 books in one year is amazing (and so are those stats!). It sounds like you had an awesome reading year, and I’m super glad to see AGAD and GGBB up there on your best shelf! Thanks for sharing, good luck with hitting your goals for this year!

I love setting goals and being bold with a few of my aims for the new year, even if bold just means increasing last year’s goal by a little to make it more challenging. Best of luck and may the words flow and pages turn! 🙂
