Let’s Talk Bookish is a weekly meme created by Rukky @ Eternity Books and hosted by Aria @ Book Nook Bits where we discuss certain topics, share our opinions, and spread the love by visiting each others’ posts. Today’s topic is: Unhauling Books
How do you feel about unhauling books? Do you get rid of books often? Or do you hold on to every book you buy?
Unhauling books is a great way to clear up space on the shelf for new books. Unfortunately, it’s always something I’ve had a ridiculously hard time with, because I don’t buy many books and carefully select the ones I do. I have a list of books I want to add to my shelves and only buy those so while I may have a lot of books, it’s the result of years of collecting. As a result, I unhaul books very infrequently, maybe once every few years at most and it’s always so hard to decide.
How do you decide which books to get rid of? Are there any books you would never get rid of?
Around 75% of my collection is made up of books I would never get rid of: favorite titles I reread atleast once a year, signed copies, and special or collector’s editions – and unhauling any of these is completely out of the question! So the ones I do consider getting rid of are usually old ARCs, or the odd book I have lying around that I did not buy for my permanent collection.
Some books on my shelves I would never get rid of are Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, Jane Austen collection, Harry Potter, a couple of Charles Dickens novels and of course, any signed copies.

This is relatable for me, since I just did an unhauling. I decided to look through everything and asked myself if I would ever read it again.

An interesting post Raji! Like yourself, I only buy books that I would want to read again so they have to be very special. Books I’ve been sent from publishers are read and often given to others to read and then onto LFL.
