Let’s Talk Bookish: Do You Ever Get Overwhelmed by Your TBR (to-be-read) Pile?

Let’s Talk Bookish is a weekly meme created by Rukky @ Eternity Books and hosted by Aria @ Book Nook Bits where we discuss certain topics, share our opinions, and spread the love by visiting each others’ posts. Today’s topic is: Do You Ever Get Overwhelmed by Your TBR (to-be-read) Pile?

How do you keep track of the books you want to read?

I mostly use Goodreads to keep track of the books I want to read. I find it very convenient because it has all the information in one place. I also use Notion to track my more immediate TBR and prioritize which books I want to pick up next based on release dates, upcoming sequels etc, along with maintaing some smaller, more specific TBRs.

Do you have a lot of books on your TBR?

I would say so. Currently, my TBR is at 331 books. 57 of those are 2022 releases that either aren’t on shelves yet or I just haven’t gotten to and those make up my immediate TBR.

Is there any order/organization within all the books you want to read?

New releases and ARCs are always the top priority, especially for series I’m following closely, because being spoiled for one of these would be the worst. After that, I have a backlist shelf which basically consists of the previous year’s titles that I didn’t get around to reading or found late into the year. Outside of this, the order of books on my TBR changes frequently and if something interests me enough, I move it up the list, like I did with the Lore Olympus series just last month.

Does your TBR ever feel overwhelming?

Only about every other week! My TBR is something that manages to simultaneously make me happy – because there are still so many books I can read – and stressed out, because it seems like I’ll never get through them all. Truth be told though, what would be the most stressful of all is if I didn’t have a TBR at all, or the unlikely event that I complete my TBR, because as overwhelming as it can get at times, it’s also fun to look through that enormous TBR and find my next read.

This is really interesting! I have to say I mostly agree with you – new releases will always be a priority and, as overwhelming as it is having so many books on my TBR (particularly as it’s physical), it’s great having that choice. Thank you so much for sharing!

Sequels & books in series I love are always priorities for me, especially when books end on cliffhangers!! In those cases, I’m always trying to read the rest of the books in the series as soon as I can! Great post, and thanks for participating this week 🙂

I agree. It’s so much fun to look through my TBR to find what I want to read next. I’d much rather have too many books to read than not enough. Great post! 😀
