Let’s Talk Bookish: Tips for newbie bloggers

Let’s Talk Bookish is a weekly meme created by Rukky @ Eternity Books and hosted by Aria @ Book Nook Bits where we discuss certain topics, share our opinions, and spread the love by visiting each others’ posts. Today’s topic is: Tips for newbie bloggers

What have you learned since you first started blogging? What advice would you give to new bloggers?

I feel like I’ve written a post on this topic or atleast something very similar before, so if anything sounds repetitive, it probably is. That said, blogging has taught me a lot over the years, and some of the most important ones are improving my writing, time management and becoming more organized.

Some advice I would give to new bloggers:

  • Post regularly, being consistent is key. Try to find a schedule that works for you and stick to it
  • Have a system to keep track of your upcoming posts, ideas, notes etc. Staying organized helps a lot in the long run
  • Definitely use social media, it’s an invaluable tool to grow your audience
  • While blogging can be a time-consuming hobby depending on your niche and how often you post, it’s important to also remember to enjoy it and not go overboard. Taking breaks when needed is completely fine

What is your favorite thing about blogging? What is the hardest part of blogging for you?

I love sharing my thoughts about books with other readers who have similar interests. Becoming a part of the bookish community online has also been so much fun and I’ve discovered so many new blogs to follow and of course, more book recommendations!

The hardest part of blogging for me was building consistency. Especially in the first couple of months just starting out when views and follows were quite low, it was difficult to keep writing even when I knew a lot of people weren’t reading my posts.

Is there anything you wish you’d done differently with your blog?

I wish I would have expanded my blog onto social media earlier. I was so focused on writing the reviews and posts themselves that I didn’t give much thought to promoting them. It took me over three months to create a Twitter account for my blog and several more months for Instagram.

What are some tips you would give to newbie bloggers? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
