Monthly Wrap Up | September 2020

September was quite a busy month for me, and not just from a blogging perspective. The month has flown by so quickly! I was able to get back on track with my TBR, and am now finally caught up and ready for October’s releases, primarily The Tower of Nero and Lightbringer, both of which I’ve been looking forward to all year. Now that it looks like I’m going to be working from home for the rest of the year atleast, I’m hoping to reach my current reading goal of 200 books well ahead of December, and maybe catch up on some backlist titles too. In other news, I finally hit 500 followers this month! Thank you so much to all my followers for your support in reaching this milestone!

Monthly Wrap Up | August 2020

screenshot 2019-01-20 10.30.16

August was comparatively a rather poor reading month for me, mainly because I had several heavier titles to get through, which meant I needed to take longer breaks between books. But fall is finally here, and with so many great books out in the next couple of weeks especially, I can’t wait to dive in!

Monthly Wrap Up | July 2020

Another month has flown past! July was pretty packed for me in terms of my 2020 TBR and I had a very productive reading month! My NetGalley shelf is exploding yet again and my goal for August is to get it back to that elusive 80% that I had before. In other news, my blog was featured in Alison @ BossyLibrarian‘s post of Best Book Blogs to Read This Summer earlier this month and I’d like to say thanks again to her for including me in this list along with all these amazing bloggers!

Monthly Wrap Up | June 2020

Happy Canada Day readers!! I can’t believe it’s July and we’re already halfway through 2020! June went by rather quickly despite yet another month of social distancing. While I didn’t read as many books as last month – my speed drastically slowed down this month for some reason – I am on track with my ARC reviews and nearly caught up on this year’s TBR. I am also only fifteen books from my updated reading goal, which probably means I’ll be increasing it again next month. I’m really hoping I can cross 200 books this year!

Monthly Wrap Up | May 2020

May has been quite the productive month for me! Admittedly, I spent more of my reading time on comics this month than I intended to, but I did still manage to get some pretty good novels in there too. Another month of mostly staying home has gone by and it looks like I’m going to be working from home for a while yet, but in good news, the bookstores are finally open again! I’ve also been trying to find better ways to track my TBR and especially my ARCs this month and hopefully it’ll to be a lot more efficient going forward. And of course, I hit my first reading goal for the Goodreads Reading Challenge, which was 100 books and have now moved it up to the next goal of 150! Happy reading and stay safe!

Monthly Wrap Up | April 2020

screenshot 2019-01-20 10.30.16

April felt like the longest month yet this year! Staying indoors freed up a lot more time for reading than usual, and I was able to check off multiple larger titles off both my TBR for this year as well as my backlist, just in time for the flood of new books that usually accompanies May.

Monthly Wrap Up | March 2020

March has been a pretty crazy month and the last two weeks especially have flown by. Hope everyone is doing well and staying safe. We’re not on lockdown here in Toronto so far, but still trying to stay home as much as possible, which gets boring really quickly, but makes for a lot of added reading time at least.😃 Here’s a chance to work on that no doubt enormous TBR pile! But in other news, I got through quite a number of books this month, including some childhood favourites.

Monthly Wrap Up | February 2020

February might be the shortest month of the year, but it was my busiest in quite some time! I’m still on track with all of my reading goals and I also made a major dent in my backlist this month, finally finishing the second longest book I had in there, just in time for March, which has nearly half a dozen of my most anticipated books for the year! Two days until Chain of Gold!!
My 2020 TBR page is now updated through April, and will continue to be updated as I finish reading and reviewing those books.

Monthly Wrap Up | January 2020

I can hardly believe a month’s already flown by! January was a great reading month for me, and also a great start to my 2020. I finally managed to finish a book that was slowing me down since November, and more importantly, am completely on track with my 2020 reading list, no backlog this month! I’ve taken up three reading challenges this year as you’ll see below, along with the never ending quest to beat the backlist, but I’m feeling quite optimistic about it as I’ve got my reading schedule planned out much more closely than usual and I’m hoping to knock out a few of the bigger reads early in the year before the deluge of summer releases starts. Here are my reading stats for January 2020!

2019 Wrap Up – A Year in Books + What’s Coming in 2020

2019 has been a big year! October marked one year of blogging, and I’ve made a lot of improvements and changes over the year. With that, I have here today my wrap up for the year and an introduction to 2020: my blogging plans, TBR and more!

Wishing everyone a very Happy New Year 2020! Here’s hoping you all have a wonderful year ahead full of great books!
And here’s the final wrap-up for 2019! This was a much slower reading month for me since I was away on vacation for a while, but I took the time to reread a few favourites both old and new, along with a final few books from my 2019 TBR. Keep an eye out for my 2019 review post, coming soon!

Monthly Wrap Up | November 2019

screenshot 2019-01-20 10.30.16

November was a less productive month than usual for me. While I did knock off a few major reads still pending on this year’s TBR, I still have a couple of mammoth books that I’m not sure I’ll be able to get to this year, namely The Priory of the Orange Tree and Alison Weir’s latest in the Six Tudor Queens series. I also finished my reread of both The Alchemyst series and finally, The Percy Jackson books (in audio). On the downside, I came across not one, but two books that caused me to have a reading slump of nearly a week – I’m still in the process of trying to finish one of them, but more on that when I write the review for it. Overall, a rather average month, but seeing as I’m well over my reading goals for the year, a good one all the same.

Monthly Wrap Up | October 2019

This month marked my first blogversary – I can’t believe it’s been a year already, and what an amazing year it has been! Thank you to my wonderful readers for all your support and feedback! October was definitely a busy month – I completed The Heroes of Olympus series re-read I had planned for this year, and am halfway through The Alchemyst series as well. But more importantly, with the end of this month, I’ve completed my reading goal for the year, 150 books!

Monthly Wrap Up | September 2019

screenshot 2019-01-20 10.30.16

September has been an interesting month and I got quite a lot done. I participated in my first blog tour and also caught up on most of my pending ARCs, leaving only 22 books on my 2019 TBR. I think I might actually be able to end this year without adding to my backlist!

Monthly Wrap Up | August 2019

screenshot 2019-01-20 10.30.16

August has been a busy month! Most of my reads this month were ARCs in an effort to tame that bursting list, although I did manage to fit in a few backlist titles too. I published my 100th blog post earlier this month and also hit 200 followers! Thank you so much to my readers and subscribers for all your support!

Monthly Wrap Up | July 2019

screenshot 2019-01-20 10.30.16

Another month gone, and a busy one at that! July was a little slower on the reading front, but I did blog a lot more than usual. I also find myself with more ARCs in hand than I can read, especially as I’m still (slowly) working my way through the BookCon pile, and I’m really excited for some of my newer eARCs, so keep an eye out for the reviews! August has some great books set to be released, and I’m looking forward to reading Roar by Cora Carmack and Crown of Coral & Pearl by Mara Rutherford in particular. Overall, a long and productive month on the reading front!

Monthly Wrap Up | June 2019

June is at an end, and in Canada, summer is finally in full swing! Between BookCon and a huge pile of books to catch up on (not to mention the review backlog), it has been quite a busy month! Not to mention, we’re already halfway through the year, so it’s time to take a look at my reading goals and reevaluate a few. Here’s my wrap up for June, and don’t forget to check out my BookCon post which contains my book haul from the event!

Monthly Wrap Up | May 2019

Well, it certainly has been a task keeping up with all the new books this month! I’ve read so many amazing books this month, and some that I didn’t expect to enjoy but loved. Red, White & Royal Blue stands out on my list from May, and is definitely making my best of year shelf!

Monthly Wrap Up | April 2019

screenshot 2019-01-20 10.30.16

April was a rather slow reading month for me, and while I did get through all the new releases I had marked on my TBR, I didn’t really have a chance to finish as many backlist titles as I would have liked. May is looking up however, with tons of amazing books set to be released over the next couple of weeks, it’s going to be a busy month! Keep an eye out for more ARC reviews as well, coming soon!

Monthly Wrap Up | March 2019

screenshot 2019-01-20 10.30.16

March was…different. I had a rather poor start to the month with a string of rather disappointing reads, unfortunately – many did not live up to the hype, and still others were merely passable reads. But luckily the trend did not continue as with a sudden influx of amazing ARCs (some of which I had not expected to get approved for at all), March turned out to be a pretty great month after all! I continued listening to audiobooks this month as well, still sticking to re-reads (I swear, I’m still swooning over Geekerella!), and am really starting to enjoy the audiobook experience! It doesn’t hurt that I nearly double the number of books I get through with them either. I’m also at the halfway mark of my reading challenge goal, and at this rate, I might have to think about increasing the number by May if not earlier!
